Dire Consequences: The Alexander Matthews Chronicles Book 1

Well the long journey to publish Dire Consequences: The Alexander Matthews Chronicles Book 1 is nearing the end. Nearing, but not finished. As of this morning the Kindle version of the book was uploaded to Amazon, and should be available for purchase within 72 hours:

There are still things that I need to do such as set up my Author page, but the one major hiccup right now is that I am waiting on the formatted Print file so I can get the paperback uploaded as well.

Still…it’s a relief to finally get to this point. Now I just have to hope there are enough potential readers out there who will take a chance on a new author. We’ll see I guess.

Ahhhh, tis the season, once again…

I wrapped up my Christmas shopping last night. Yes, you read that right, I am done, done, done. While this isn’t the earliest I have ever completed my shopping, it isn’t the latest either. I always try to get it over with well before Christmas because I can’t stand dealing with the crowds at the malls this time of year. Besides, all of the goodwill and cheer oozing from everyone is nearly unbearable. And yes, I was being sarcastic.

Ninety percent of my shopping is done on-line. It’s just so much easier that I cannot fathom why anyone would willingly do it any other way. I can sit in a comfy chair, go to Amazon, place my order, and not give it another thought until the packages arrive. So simple…

Unfortunately, I cannot avoid all of the Holiday hoopla that dominates my TV. Seriously, how much of this crap can one person stomach? Evidently, no limit exists as far as my wife is concerned. Hallmark Channel and Lifetime run Christmas movie marathons this time of year…and I do mean marathons. These shows are back to back to back…24 hours a day. Writers of the Future- Part Deux

So…I decided to submit another short story to a contest. This time I selected The Interview which is posted here on this blog. The entry is for the 4th Qtr of the Writers of the Future contest. For the prior quarter I sent in Six-gun Apotheosis, and am still waiting to hear back on results.

I like the fact that there are four opportunities for submission each year, rather than the single entry that the PNWA contest has. Not only are there more chances to win, but it means that I get multiple stories looked at in the same span of time.

The prize money is better, but as I said before that isn’t my primary purpose in doing these contests. Feedback is king, and the more of it I get, the better. Patience isn’t my strongest suit, and waiting on results sucks, but it is what it is. If I risk nothing then I gain nothing.

Wish me luck…
